I went to a local tourney this weekend just to watch some softball and enjoy my day.

I noticed a family walking toward me (daughter pulling her bat bag that is as big as her with mom and dad). Daughter has a smile while looking like she is getting a work out pulling her bag. (For the record I think it was great she was taking care of her own equipment.)

Dad looks at mom and says:
DAD: We are dropping back down to 10U.
MOM: Why that was a good game?
DAD: Would you rather loose 2-3 or win by 20?
MOM: Well...
DAD: I am tired of loosing!
ME: Left standing there shaking my head.

Some people don't get it.

Sigh....its a marathon not a sprint. Kids get so much better losing by a couple than winning by a ton.

I think we won the last 5 games by 20 runs, DD and I were bored out of our minds. I actually left 2 of her games early which I never have done before.

No fun getting beat by 20 either. If we score 18 runs in the last inning we are right back in this game.

This weekend DD's team won their first tournament that had any real competition..nice shiny trophy they got. But the best part of the tournament,
and my trophy, was that some team left an almost brand new leather softball lying around the practice area. I was glad
DD's team go to the championship game since I didn't want to snatch it until every team had left, and nobody did. Almost made up for the gate fee. Win!!

He ought to ask his DD what she wants. Our team is 1-6 right now and my DD's in heaven playing against excellent competition. We asked her if she would be interested in playing something lower level where they'd have a shot at a win and she said no way. Kids like a challenge, not an easy win.
