Thanks for the feedback and i did take your advice and took a look. I watched a lot of the videos that were on there and didn't see were coach Candrea had changed the USA ladies swing back to a baseball swing so i went to right veiw pros web site and still didn't see it. I will keep looking and probably make some phone calls since what i teach is from Team USA as of last fall. If you know of somewhere that i can get this info i will gladly take a look but would not want to re-invent the wheel since it took so long for everyone to figure out that baseball and softball are extremely different.

The games are extremely different in distance and speed. Not in the swing of the bat. I too am a softball guy. Have been for many years. For many of those years I thought the same thing you think today until I started doing more research on why my teams could not hit with consistent power like other organizations in Texas. One in particular would be the Glory organization up here in McKinney. Familiar with them? Well known group.

All I am suggesting to you is that if you want to understand a high level swing that will create a consistent swing plane to the ball, generate power, and increase your teams batting average by about 50 points that you might want to consider looking in a different direction than the one your on right now.

When your team goes up against the best pitchers in Texas how do they perform? Can they catch up to the 62 mph pitcher and hit her hard? Also, if you get the chance check out Taylor Hogland. 3rd baseman for Flower Mound who is in the playoffs right now. May also lead the state right now in HR. Not sure on that one as I have not checked in awhile. Will be down at UT in a couple of years. That is a prime example of how you want your hitters to swing a bat.

I am totally and completely open to change with real proof that it works. I really would like the info. Yes my daughter has played against Glory, last year at the 12u level. We moved her down south this year for 14u to put her up against the more aggresive pitchers like the Bombers in New Braunfels and around Temple. She is also a catcher. Her sp this year so far is .874 but your right if i had solid proof that i could help that.I would do it in a second.I would even change the way i teach any player that i work with.

Don't have a link handy but Mike and Sue said something along the lines of "the fp swing is the same as the MLB swing" on their newest stuff done in conjunction with RightView. This is from the influence of Don Slaught who developed the RightView products and idea. Probably the second or third best exposition of the swing available right now and using the software to make it easy to compare your favorite hitter to 1, 2 or 3 elite hitters at given points in the swing is great.

So Cal
Sue and Mike

I participated in a day-long clinic for hitting coaches with Sue last summer at UCLA and the data she and Mike have developed is impressive and supported the no difference between FP and BB swing theory. She wants the bat on plane as long as possible, a "direct connection" between the front heel and back elbow (when the heel touches down the elbow drops into the slot) and stresses the "frisbee toss" for the bottom hand and "skip the rock" for the top hand. For the last 9 months we've shifted our team to her approach and seen a remarkable improvement. My daughter hits in the 3 hole for travel and Varsity (she's a sophomore) and she's picked up 60 points on her BA and 175 on her SP. Here in SoCal that means 62+ most of the time. Sue's focus was on the things "every good hitter" does, not some or most and coincidentally all of her fundamentals focused on the "B" part of the swing. While she had "observations" related to the stance, finish, etc, she would not spend any real amount of time on them. Everything was focused from the negative move to contact.

I went looking for that link and never did come up with it. I dont think it was no You Tube but there are several links out there with Sue giving demonstration. I was thinking it was on the Right View site at one time. Or maybe sports Skool? Need to check there.

Six years ago we invested in lessons at the local batting center for our son and daughter simultaneously (taught by former MLB players and college coaches). My husband explored the differences in the baseball and softball swing (particularly the load) and years later both of my children have very good on base percentages. Their swings are near identical.

It's really not her approach nor Mike's approach it's Don Slaught's approach and good for him for getting them on video saying the fp swing is the mlb swing. Having said that, Don is not perfect either. The skip the rock cue is HUGELY problematic IMO and promotes bat drag as defined in the link I keep giving of the clips on Siggy's site. I watched Don start sweating and shaking one day at Spring Klein while arguing this point with another instructor. Don's point of reference is MLB hitters and those just under that level. Telling them to skip a rock is one thing. Telling it to a youth hitter is a dangerous IMO. Having said that, I have no doubt your kids have seen great improvement using the RightView materials. Probably second or third best available IMO and a HUGE improvement over almost everything offered in female fp that came before.
