Does anybody know a catcher that is using one of these? I told my DD about them and she looked at my like i was crazy. Seems uncomfortable to her to basically have an ice pack on the back of her head!

I ordered one for the DD. It came in two days. They are gel packs so there is no discomfort. DD will play this weekend for the first time while wearing it. I will report back with her opinion.

76LTAz.... Curious about your DD's opinion on the Cool Catcher. I have also seen this but been skeptical about whether my DD would even wear it.

Please forgive my bumping up of an old thread. I’m thinking about getting this for dd11. We live in SE Texas, and it gets brutal down here. Has anyone used it, and liked it?

My DD caught with it this weekend and didn’t notice a thing. Hair too thick with a pony tail to feel anything. Unfortunately the box got trashed so can’t return it.

That goes along with some of the less than stellar reviews on Amazon. Thanks!

Well thermodynaics plays a big part here. Heat goes to cold, so as soon as you put the helmet on the pads start to warm up. Worse than snake oil

Worse than snake oil? If that's your reasoning then why use a frog tog or any other cooling device? Or when you have a fever why do you put a cool cloth on your forehead and back of your neck?

If you store the gel pads in ice cold water and change them every inning as instructed these things work great. It's like a supercharged frog tog directly on your head.
