Most TB teams are not providing much exposure. Look at the results of who is on college teams. I would say 20% of travel players get exposure and get on teams, and that would includ JCs or CCs. 80% don't.

Not sure why this is even brought up but assuming this is right it is still probably 20x more exposure than HS ball alone.

I assure you this rule applies to all sports. I recently spoke to an official with the AHSAA who told me this rule was put in place recently to prevent coaches from getting extra practice and game experience for their players by having them play travel ball. the welfare of the player was not at all a concern in this situation. Travel softball and baseball in southeast Alabama is a bid deal and getting bigger each year.

We just started with the high school program this year and were blind sided by this rule after the start of the season. I have never allowed any of children to quite anything once they have started it. We will finish the season and consider this an educational experience. However I will admit that I did initially look into the possibility of playing travel ball instead of high school ball. The problem with that option is that because of this ban on travel ball play during the high school season there are no teams or tournaments available in Alabama. After this season we will find an alternative even if it means joining a travel team in a neighboring state.

Georgia plays HS ball in the Fall. An increasing number of TB teams in Florida are starting to play there in the Spring in lieu of HS ball.

As I am sure you are aware Alabama Independent School Association is a separate entity from the AHSAA with it's own rules. We are considering transferring to a local AISA school for next seaon.

You are allowed to the transfer to the school of your choice? What a concept. Here we are stuck based on address. You pretty much have to move to get into another school. You can't just go to the school of your choice because that would not be fair.

I like the idea of running track. I hadn't considered that option. thanks

Had a big power hitter that ended up becoming a state champion in shot put. She conditioned, lifted weights, got stronger and kept up with tee work a few times a week. When we started up TB in early May she was a stud.

I think he is referencing a private school/academy.
