It is great that Daddies put the time and effort into coaching. It takes a lot of time and effort, and it is a thankless job to have non-combatants like me sitting around and enjoying the show.

RF drops an easy fly ball. The coach screamed, "Shake it off!" but you could tell by the tone of his voice he was really saying, "You idiot!"

IME, a good Jose Canseco reference is funnier and more effective (but only if you've let them know previously who Jose Canseco was and what his fielding claim to the hall of shame was)

He should have yelled "don't worry, that was a base hit according to the DFP scoring system"! LOL

"It's okay, we'll get the next one came out of my mouth too many times in our last game tonight... Problem being we never really got it. Got beat 9-0
We have beat that team before just fine. DD had this bad attitudeALL DAY. Showed in her hitting. Struck out all night. 2 games. Only got on base because she got hit by a pitch. Uughh just a rant. Hate how she allows her bad mood to ruin her game..

I'm in the middle of reading "Heads Up Baseball" right now. Just finished the chapter on this very subject. It goes on to say that we coaches tell the athletes to shake it off, but how many of us actually teach them the methods to do so?

I don't know who recommended it, but it's a great read and worth every penny.

I think the best thing to say would be "Not your best play but learn from it and do better next time." Even the pro's make errors or they wouldn't have the "E" on the scoreboard.

Never liked the 'shake it off' comment during a game. ...

To me, it's acknowledging that they screwed up.

A well-trained player already knows that she screwed up and does not need annoying confirmations. A well-trained player also knows how to shake it off and doesn't need patronizing reminders of that either.

So games should be silent for the most part, just coaches giving direction and umpires making calls? Players know when they do something good and when they make a mistake, I guess we should all zip it in all circumstance?
