Epstein's "Enforcer Drill" (fence drill) is an over emphasis drill designed specifically to teach the body how to keep the hands inside the ball by working the lead elbow up.

It's an excellent drill for it's intended purpose and I disagree that it causes other bad habits.

We use this tool instead of the fence drill. If you swing down on the ball or level this training device is not for you.

If you have a good hand path it is not an issue.

If you cast out you hit the ball on the tee with the rope and if you open with the shoulder you stay inside the ball and maybe will nick it. You only have basically 3/4 of an inch area on the surface of the WhipHit ball to hit the ball on the tee, the ball represents the sweet part of the bat. Once they swing with this and see how difficult it is to do, a regular bat is simple and they find the hand path every time.

I have kids who use this in a cage and during batting practice and it usually draws a crowd when they do as the hand path must be almost perfect to drive the ball verses fouling it.

Go to theWhipHit.com and you will see some examples of our kids using it.

I would much rather see someone use the whip hit rather than the classic fence drill or Epstein's version of it.

went to a hitting clinic and talked with one of the coaches last night. Mentioned the fence drill and he said it was ok. But he stressed that doing one arm swings and concentrating on staying on top of the ball was a better solution to the problem.

She hit last night and looked like a different hitter. Now I think her and I both have some swing thoughts and drills to work on to accomplish her getting rid of the long loopy swing. She was hitting the high pitches which she has been missing because of her swinging under the ball. So I hope this is a step in the right direction.

I am just afraid that if she doesn't start hitting she might be cooming to a end of her serious softball career. I wouldn't care but she works her butt off compared to other kids who actually have more talent. She hustles everywhere, plays outstanding defense and is such a positive figure on the team... So hopefully she will be off and running!

My hope is to get some video on here this weekend.

I did like the whip it as well thanks for the idea.

What works for you works for you but always be careful of taking one person's advice and running with it with out careful vetting. Always compare anything anyone tells you about hitting to slow motion video of the best in the world. Like some of these. Siggy's Hitting Clips - ImageEvent

KRD good move(clinic). MOST of the guys see thousands of kids and can quickly see and fix problems. My dd just had her 4th private lesson and it has been well worth the $. I was so proud, the coach brought an allstar LL baseball team over to watch her hit for a few minutes and "show them good technique". Coach was teasing her and said "Josh over there behind the net doesn't think you hit well...what are you going to do about that?" Right on que she hit 3 HARD line drives right at Josh.

That is the hard part..........knowing who and what is right. Everyone has rave reviews so it is hard to figure out sometimes. But people on here are very helpful and not afraid to share idea's and concepts.

Yes. Exactly. So far the best defense I've come up with for the average parent to avoid going too far down bunny trails is to compare everything anyone says to slow motion video of the best in the world. Lots of video. I say lots because a motivated person can find a hitting clip to prove almost anything.

in the on goinig battle of the dark forces of bat drag I have discovered a back elbow that appears to get hung up on the back side. Would one be wise to stick something under that back arm??? Maybe a a woman sized basketball?

Just trying to get soomething that can give her the feeling when I am not around to correct.

Thanks for everyone's help!
