Most of the time, the "game of the week" in college softball is the Nittany Nats vs. Bethel Bottomdwellers, but this week they are televising a couple of good games:

Tennessee v. Florida will be televised on Saturday at 12:00 noon EST, and at 3:00 PM EST on Sunday. Tennessee has a 2 game lead over Florida in the SEC-East. However, Florida's losses were in the middle of the season. IMHO, Florida is the better team.

The other SEC televised games is Alabama v. Ole Miss. The only drama is whether Alabama will 10 run them in 4 or 5 innings.

A game worth following is Texas v. Missouri at Columbia, MO. I've been saying Texas is over-rated for a while. So, these games should either shut me up or make me louder.

Even with conference offices involved, it's difficult to make sure that there will be a 'good' matchup every single weekend within the conference and conferences do not coordinate with one another to make sure ESPN gets a quality matchup week in, week out.

During the season, ESPN has to track performance of programs around the country to pick out their key targets. It's not easy.

ESPN U has been showing great games for at least the past 2 seasons. Mostly SEC but some Big 12. PLUS, you can watch a replay on demand on ESPN3.com.

TX is for real...

I've got the tivo set to record Sunday's game (with an extra hour just in case)!

I want a Mizzou win for my Mother's Day present, LOL. And I agree on the rankings; I don't think Texas is a bad team, but I would certainly like to see them trade places with MU.

I'm with you. I've got the DVR set as well, since we'll be at the ballpark - barring more MO flooding.

If I were only a genius, it would be so much easier...but, I'm not. Tennessee is a good team, but in the top 10? No way. The only way they get to Oklahoma City is if they get a good draw.

It isn't about me liking or not liking anyone. It is about "being real" about the relative ability of the teams and recognizing that the SEC coaches vote as a block. Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia are good teams...but 4, 5, 6, 7 in the country? Not in a million years.

The SEC ADs and coaches are voting as a block to get their teams a good seed in the tournament.

I wasn't referring to Penn State...but, please, don't tell me how great the Penn State softball team is. They are a mid-level D1 softball team--all they need is a couple of pitchers, a few infielders and a couple of outfielders, and they would be right in the thick of the Big 10 race.

Couldn't you have put a spoiler alert before posting the scores?! LOL! I have finally got to be at the ball fields for two whole days with very little rain and hoped to watch on late Sunday or Monday night! ;-)

Wow Sluggers what changed your mind about the SEC? You had all four of these teams in your top ten 12 days ago. What is your top ten after this weekend?
