Not surprisingly, Arizona State is number 1 after Alabama got smacked by LSU.

Michigan is number 2. Texas, who's claim to fame is beating Long Island 10-0, is rising like a hot air balloon in Steamboat Springs. They are playing the mighty Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks this week followed by the North Texas Mean Green this week...so they are in no danger of losing a game. Since Texas is apparently picking opponents with wacky mascot names and a low RPI, how about the Presbyterian College Blue Hose?

The only games of interest last week were Alabama v. LSU. Interestingly, LSU also beat Texas. Coincidence? I think not. Tennessee is playing LSU this week. Should be interesting...will the LSU team that beat Texas and Alabama show up? Or will the LSU team that lost to Southern Miss and Kentucky show up?

It is nut-cutting time in Tempe. UCLA is playing Arizona State this weekend. Time for Arizona State to either put up or shut up.

In the "Wolverine Conference" (why pretend? Michigan owns every team in that conference), Michigan is going to wallop Illinois. (Illinois is destined to do its yearly NCAA tournament disappearing act. Why not give the Presbyterian College a bid? I need a Blue Hose t-shirt!)

I'll be interested to see how Nebraska fares against Michigan when they move over to the Big Ten. It may not make much difference: they may simply go from being beaten by Texas to being beaten by Michigan. However, those two losses to Texas were close games. IMO the team that most benefits will be Michigan; they'll get another team to regularly test themselves against.

Michigan lost to Indiana, Fresno State and Western Kentucky. Arizona state lost to Oregon, California, Utah, and Michigan. My guess is that Arizona State lost to better team than Michigan.

I'm just being a homer.

But its odd that losing to Michigan helps prove ASU's worth as #1. But beating ASU doesn't put Michigan above them.

My Okie State Cowboys collapsed in the bedlam game losing to OU. This is usually a mental test for them regardless of the sport...will they fold and slide out of the top or will they fight to stay in it. Goooo Boys! Chelsea Thomas seems to have found her grove but a big test is this weekend against OU. Was at the games Mo vs Ou last year and its a great match up to watch. Although Mizzou really stunk it up that last game.
