Six years.

Take a second and think about what you were doing in 2012. Think about everything that happened since then. That’s how long this kid has to be “the player that committed to Florida when she was in 6th grade”.

It will be a good day when she can just be a Florida Gator I bet.

My granddaughter verbaled to Aurburn...I think.

She either said: "Auburn! Oh baby!" or "Awww, burn. Poor baby". Not really sure.

I tried to get clarification and she kept saying "cookie". The AC's nickname is "Cookie", isn't it?

I've met this kid. Worked beside her in cages for the past 6 or 7 months. She's different. Her mindset is one of a 16 year old at least. Her work ethic is undeniable. Her parents are not "those parents".

Don't like the rules? Fine. She's made a very wise decision for herself and her parents have supported that....and it's clear if you meet them in real life. Happy for her and for Tim Walton for scopping her up from the MANY suitors that have persued her for a while.

For those who think NOBODY could possibly know that young what they wanted to do, I knew at 9 what I wanted to do and persued it and I'm living it and loving it and ALL the people who told me I couldn't possibly know at that age are all eating crow. Is it rare? Yes it is. Is it likely? Nope. She is an anomoly though. Plain and simple.

Yes! I think the early recruiting is meaningless and stupid in general and even in this case, she could decide she wants to do something different later, go elsewhere, fall in love and decide softball is too demanding, etc etc.

That said, this kid is something special. I've seen her play a good bit, have talked to her parents some who are just about the nicest people you could hope to meet. I know they must be getting beaten up like crazy right now but everyone who knows Alexia even a little bit knows that if any 11 year old could be said to be a good fit for a college team, it's her. Not only does she have an incredible work ethic and talent coming out of her ears, she's incredibly sweet. My daughter and her TB friends who know Alexia are so inspired by her. But she and her parents come across as humble, not like you'd expect from such a high level player. Yes, she is an anomaly. I've never seen another kid like her this age. I'm sure they're out there but they're one in a million. I hope we do get to see Alexia play on TV someday, whether for FL or for another college. She's got the stuff for sure.
