Regional snubs

The Minnesota issue is settled. Committee got it right.

RB, I really respect your opinion.

If this regional was in MN, do you think it's automatically the same outcome? A couple of 1-0 games. You don't think that getting sent to AL which is arguably the toughest place to play on the road PLUS the distraction of being a #1 with #11 RPI that couldn't get a seed isn't enough to just be a tick off?

I agree w/ you, Swim Coach. I think RB and JAD are being a little rough on Minnesota.

Maybe Alabama was better. But losing a pair of 1-run games in that environment isn't laying an egg, nor definitive proof that one team is better than the other. And, even if Alabama is better, that still doesn't justify the seeding. The question isn't who was better this weekend, but who had the better resume entering the tournament. For example, Ole Miss was seeded #8 for the SEC tournament, but winning it didn't mean the seeding was wrong. It was the appropriate seed at the time.

Maybe they beat Alabama if they don't get taken to extra's by La Tech. Sorry but if they were as great as many said they were they would not have been in that position at least. Struggling with the #3 team from Conference USA does not help their claim that they deserved a seed.

Living in the Minnesota my whole life, and being a huge Gophers fan here's my take...
The seeds that I read where Minnesota should have been based on RPI was maybe #8 (Knoxville), or #11 (Salt Lake City).
If Minnesota had a Regional Tournament based on the teams that were in the #8 Knoxville, or the #11 Salt Lake City, I'd guess they would be in a Super Regional next weekend.

Sara G. pitched some great games. Holding Alabama to 1 run per game was awesome. But she can't do everything...
But like Coach Allister said...the batters needed to be more aggressive...and they weren't. I've watched nearly everygame they broadcast this year...BTNplus... etc, and this is the least I've seen them swing the bat. The batters seemed almost timid at times.
Lindaman has to get a 34" bat and needs to attack the outside pitch by striding inward more to go opposite field...then she has 30 HRs per season, not 20... and then we are etching her face in that wall behind left field at the Gophers stadium... :D. Kendyl is a machine

It was a great season! It would have been nice if Minnesota had a Top 16 seeding and a home Regional Tournament though...I think the outcome would have been better...

I was pulling hard for the Golden Gophers mostly due to the seeding snub, but you have to score runs to win, and Alabama did their job by shutting out Minnesota when it counted.

That said, the first loss - a walk-off on a bases-loaded walk, on Sara G's only walk of the game - was a heart-breaker.

Seemed to me that Minnesota hitters looked at an awfully high number of 3rd strikes. IMO, that lack of aggressiveness was a big part of their nearly-silent offense.

Not scoring a run in two games is not going to work in any tourney, especially when pitching and defense was great.

And the defending champs lost to NDSU, not to mention FL lost to OSU. Based on that logic, neither of them deserved a seed.

And both of them lost at home. Doesn't matter where they were playing it could happen. Neither one of them let the same team beat them twice though.

MN got screwed by the home plate umpire in their first game with AL, but to not score a single run against AL does not help their argument. AL is good, but they finished towards the middle of the pack in the SEC.
