No doubt all of the big dogs will still make the field of 64, but this will give 48 more teams a shot at some postseason play. If your DD played basketball and her school did not make the NCAA tournament, but was invited to play in the NIT, would you her to go play?
I wonder about that too. He said every school has to commit $12k to travel or host, so it sounds like they're collecting $12k from everyone and paying travel expenses from that pool. Otherwise, expenses would be very high for teams having to fly since first games are only 2 days after selection.I wonder how/if this will fit into school budget's.
Will be interesting to see if some of the lesser conference teams step up or if the 7th and 8th place PAC 10 and SEC teams rule the day.
