Just watched the last couple of innings of Illinois v Michigan State in the Big 10 tournament. What a finish! Michigan State was up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, and their pitcher had been dominating the Illinois hitters the whole game.
But somehow, Illinois managed to scrape together three runs thanks to a couple of weak hits and a couple of fielding errors - a ball dropped by the first baseman that should've gone for out #2, and a fielding error on a ground ball that allowed run #3 for the win.
Here was also a situation when the sac bunt worked. No outs, runner at first they bunted her to second. So one out and runner on 2. I thought with two outs left it was a mistake - they needed two runs, not one - but a little bloop over the pitcher and the errors, and Illinois moved on.
Great game overall.
