DD will be traveling next year with a college team. Plenty of air travel.

How do players/schools handle luggage? I was thinking a nice 22" carry on suitcase might be an awesome hs grad present. From those who have been through this already, will she be carrying her equipment bag on to the plane and checking her bag or vice versa? How does all that work?

The school she is attending is an Easton/Nike school and it seems that pretty much everything is provided so maybe she won't even need a carry on suitcase.

BTW the bag I'm looking at is a Travelpro Flightcrew 4 if there are any gear freaks here.

Thanks in advance for the help. WW.

Most schools provide and require the use of vendor specific gear. As far as travel goes make sure she has a good blanket and a quality set of head phones. DD prefers the wireless Beats. Yes, they are pricey but you are probably done buying softball gear for her. :)

Thanks Rise, I thought that might be the case!

That's exactly the kind of advice I was looking for. We got her some Bose noise cancelling headphones for Christmas, I tried them on a long flight recently and they were amazing.

Maybe I'll buy the carry on for me instead!

I few years ago I traveled a lot for business and the Bose noise cancelling headphones my wife got me are hands down one of the best presents I've gotten, they are AWESOME!!

DOn't buy the travel bag. My DD also got everything. And I mean everything. She needed to clear out some her personal clothes to make space in the dorm room. Game bag, travel bag, heavy jacket, light jacket, hoodies, 2 pairs of cleats, a dozen warm weather and cold weather warm-ups, shorts, sweatpants, game socks, ankle socks, underarmour, headbands, visor, ballcap, etc. She got permission to use her own batting gloves. That's it.
