My daughter really doesn't care what level she plays at. She does want the right fit (as they all do!). She did go to a D1 school recently that has a new coach. She did well She loved everything about the school and team. The coach told her that she is finishing up 2016 roster but that she wants her to come back to their next camp. We took that as a good sign. We signed up for the next camp but really no contact from them since which is worrisome to me. She's gotten camp invites from some schools that watched her play this summer which we will attend and a Couple of good d3s that say she is on their list. A few other schools have reached out to her at all levels but not the academic fit that she is looking for so we are not pursuing

Sounds like she's in good shape, especially if she is not caught up in having to for a specific school or level. Not that anything you said would rule out D-I. She just needs to keep marketing herself, sending emails to the coaches who showed interest in her at the camp, etc.

AC on DD's team this year just completed her 4th year playing at a mid major D1 last season, it is one of the schools DD sent an email of to. talked to her yesterday and she said the coach (last year was her 1st year as HC) is already recruiting 2019's.

There's a 2019 in our town who was offered by a mid-major several months ago, while she was still in 8th grade. So yeah, no question that mid-majors are looking at the class of 2019 already, and the window is inching downward on 2016's, but there are a lot of mid-majors (200 maybe?), and there are still many roster spots to be filled.

Timeline wise you are probably ok if it really doesn't matter what division or money. You might have one, but in this post I don't get a true sense of your recruiting strategy. Are you planning to show up at a few camps and hope they make an offer?

Did she take her SAT/ACTs yet? If she hasn't or isn't planning on taking them within the next few months she is behind on that aspect.

I think your DD needs to be proactive and reach out to coaches regularly by phone/text/etc and let them know the sincere interest why she wants to play for them and go to that school. Coaches recruit kids who recruit them. Make the coaches get to know her. Show up on campus. Pick a few realistic schools (athletically and academically) and invest some real time into those schools/coaches she wants. Good luck!

Most D2 and D3 schools want to see a solid academic record before they will have serious discussions with a player, so I would not hit the panic button until after the 2016 summer showcases. Tell your DD to kick some rear in the classroom this year and have a good ACT/SAT score in her back pocket when she gets the showcases next summer.

Thank you. My daughter is taking the ACT in Dec and SAT in January. She's has at least a 90 average in all her classes. She really gets how hard she has to work It's so much on these kids but she has her eye on the prize !

There is ALWAYS money available out there if you have the ability, no matter how late it is. You just have to find those opportunities. I saw a top 25 D1 make an offer to a 2016 player at PGF nationals in August. D2's will still be offering kids come early spring of the players' senior year. You just have to stay after it, and as someone else mentioned, find out which schools are sincerely interested. They aren't going to tell you unless you ask!!
