I doubt they will ever charge either one of the coaches for lack of any solid evidence. It really shouldn't hurt her recruiting either. She has been losing for so long no top recruits will even look at the school. With these allegations her reputation will be permanently sullied within the softball community. When my DD was going through the recruiting process I was told to stay away from her and another recently departed BIG10 coach by multiple people.

I wonder why a coach with the horrible W/L record she has would still be there? I have heard there is some nepotism there. My DD's old college coach was gone after 2 years of a really bad record. The new coach suffered from her poor recruiting this spring.

I think that the evidence against these two coaches is VERY solid. All the evidence presented in the article (assuming that it is accurate), totally collaborates the player in this situation. Indeed, the player was injured. Obviously, based on the change in the way the coaches treated her, they had it in for her. The only possible question is intent. Did the coach/pitcher intend to hurt this player? That would be for a jury to decide. However, if I were the AD these two coaches would be gone, immediately!

Unfortunately, the school and the AD can not do that. Even if they wanted to. It would open the flood gates for potential lawsuits. The school must circle the wagons behind the coaches all the way to the end. Once the process runs it's course the coaches most likely will "resign or retire" from coaching if they are not convicted. If found guilty they will both be let go.

I thought that the letter sent to the player demanding her to retract her defamatory remarks was an effort to intimidate her. But that's how that game is played. A good move by the player would be to start a civil suit against the coaches and the school for employing such creeps. That would be even greater intimidation since a civil suit is based upon a preponderance of evidence which, I believe, clearly exists.

Our legal system, "If I can hurt you more than you can hurt me, I win!"

I don't have a huge problem with the school asking(demanding) that she retract her remarks was a big deal. I'm sure she wished she hadn't said them. I do have a huge problem if they threw pitches at her on purpose. I don't think it's unreasonable that a civil suit can be filed against the coaches.

I believe that the remarks that the school is demanding she retract is her accusations that they purposely threw at her. Not her initial wish of playing elsewhere.
