The 3rd base coach cannot be real demonstrative. I might just say "go," in a low voice. But, the runner should have went unless the coach was saying "no."

All good points. The bigger mistake was the next batter striking out with a runner on third in the 7th inning of a 3-2 game. Can. Not. Happen!!!!!

I think it was a great play to run on the SS turned her back fully to Romero. At that time she should have been hauling rear to home. She has speed and could have beaten the throw.

The SS was going towards the middle to field the ball. Once the ball got past the pitcher Romero should have broke for home. There is no SS in the world that can make that play at home.....not with Romero's speed. I'm sure once Romero was on third Hutchins explained to Romero EXACTLY when not to run. It was a baserunning mental error on Romero's part.

This is really on the base runner. By the time that the coach says "go" and the runner responds it could be a good 0.5 second that has elapsed which is, quite often, the difference between "safe" and "out".

I thought it was hard once she hesitates to let the ball get by the pitcher and the SS fields it, if she breaks for home and the SS throws home she is out by a mile, I replayed in several times to be sure. Even if she decides to run once she sees the SS break for second if SS turns and comes home instead of 1B again she is out by a lot.

The play was not as cut and dry or easy as it looks after the fact....defense tries to turn two equals automatic run scored from third

All that being said...you gotta score on that play some how some way! But if she would have been gunned down at the plate...would everyone here be saying "why so aggressive with 0 outs how can you make first out at the plate"

Keep in mind who was guarding the dish. Aubree Munro is a force to be reckoned with, and is playing with some serious determination to lead her team to another championship. If Romero goes on contact, I'm betting she gets gunned down at the plate by Florida's SS. The ball was hit hard enough to give SS the time to come home. IMO, doubt killed Romero's chances.

I will take the toughness of Romero over a dainty girl like Munro 99 times out of 100. She should have never hesitated - she knows it - good reminder to all the little DD's out there that even the best are not perfect.
