Proud alum of THE Ohio State University
I prefer UL-Laf (pronounced "you'll laugh"). :O
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette does in fact discourage the use of ULL (see Proper Use of the University's Name), even though those are the initials. smh Their goal of being known as "Louisiana" is understandable. However, their crusaders' constant 'correcting' of people to say so is absurd and counterproductive because it rubs people the wrong way. By all means, keep on promoting the recognition of your school as "Louisiana" by using it in your posts and edited poll standings. IMHO, you may want to reconsider some of your other tactics.
Almost as annoying as being corrected that it is The Ohio State University.
As a person with a journalism background, I don't like being told how to use a proper name. Newspapers and other media have their own style. After reading the bossy tone of on that website, I will be referring to the school as ULL from here.
That page is intended as a directive for faculty, employees, and contractors. They have their rules, we have ours.
