If you saw it, what do you think about this? It was a double play throw back to 1st, initially called 'out'...... After discussion, called 'safe'......my opinion was it was a blown call, and corrected to be what it should have been.
I don't know how I feel...seeing it happen in MLB, and I am kind of annoyed. I dunno...just seems unfair when compared to past. Umps are human, and to me, their calls (good or bad) are part of the game. Also, we can't do this in TB, HS, Rec, etc. The players are used to it...and now, we will see more pauses in game when they review these challenges every single time. I kind of feel bad for the umps now...especially when they get called on bad calls a lot. I guess this goes down in their annual review. LOL.
The last thing we need is to slow the game down even more and I'm pretty certain the calls even themselves out over the course of a season. Perhaps if TV didn't super slo-mo every play with 200x zoom we wouldn't holler as much.
Just not sure exactly how much time transpired (as I watch Alabama fly out yet again). In the end they got the call right which is always most important in my book
It's even more annoying to me when a coach comes out of the dugout to scream at a hpu for 5 min over a blown call. Right or wrong, until yesterday's reversal, the play stood as called. Now I fear that every single call that is close will get argued in an attempt to reverse. Booooooo
I wish they showed what transpired during the commercial break. My guess is normal procedure where 'Bama asked BU to check with his partners, BU did and then reversed a bad call.
Umpires have ways of signaling each other whether they think the other got the call correct. I noticed a PU holding/tugging on his shirt collar on a disputed call at first and asked him about it - he told me he was signaling his partner that he agreed with his call.
