NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee | NCAA.org - The Official Site of the NCAA

There is also a Softball Rules Committee. However, I doubt they are unaware of the problem. Unfortunately too many top programs are invested in skippys.

Cool - thanks riseball.

I am on a mission from god now. I am going to do this. I don't care if I might be drinking from the fire-hose here. Ya gotta stand up for rules and fairness and apple pie and America,.. etc.

So who are the "powers" here on DFP? Can I draft a letter that calls us a "DFP Action Committee"? (I would like to reference the premier social media for the game of softball).

Then where are the complete rule-set surrounding replanting in NCAA? (don't care about leaping unless everything is too painfully inter-weaved)

This should give me the framework to get this accomplished. I will get a draft created and those of you here that are passionate on this topic like me can review it to make it a "best-weapon" to request corrective action.

Did you know we never landed on the moon?

I would like to get behind this conspiracy but it is actually a conspiracy. They know what is going on and do not care or like the consequences.

I agree with your sentiment. As RB said, many top programs have an awful lot invested in "Skippies" and "Leapers." But you never know, if marketed via social media properly, it could turn into a real movement and just the threat of a boycott from even watching the WCWS by 100's of thousands would possibly put the media in our corner due to their bottom line being potentially hurt. Since advertising money is directly proportional to viewership numbers, this could be the leverage we may need. I know it's a stretch but you never know unless you try:eek:

Or you could get the fans at televised games to stand behind the backstop with their arms out signalling an IP every time Waldrop, Silkwood, etc. threw a pitch. ESPN would have to comment on it. For that matter if the analysts did their job and regularly pointed out what a farce enforcement was it might get legs. Was watching Silkwood the other day when she got called for an IP. Looked at the 4 prior and the 4 after the IP and failed to see any difference. Wondered why the umpire picked that particular time to call an IP when she was doing it through the whole game.

And how many do you think will participate when it's their own pitcher doing it? It would probably be a "wave" war. One side of fans standing up signaling against the opponent for a half inning then it would be the other half of the stadium. I can picture it now as I chuckle to myself.

I'll be shocked if they call "skippers" for replanting.

Some of the "uneven" umpiring is due to whether they can clearly see an infraction in live action from their position. Leaping with an inch of air is the easiest to see, so it gets called the most. The rest we see on tv - close up and in slow motion - are far more difficult for them to clearly see an infraction, so they're rarely called. I doubt they're going to call an IP in a game just because it looked similar to something they saw on video. jmo

I'm not challenging you or arguing, but I will play Devil's Advocate here. So when there's two umpires to a game, whose responsible for calling IP's via the feet? My understanding, and I could be entirely off-base since I'm not an ump, is that it's the BU's and they should be standing at the furthest point no more than 40' or so. Are you telling me they can't see the same thing we are seeing at home in real time from a camera, even zoomed in to approximately the same distance, from high over LCF? I would much rather go with the conspiracy theorists on this one than believe that:eek:

I think all we need to get the ball rolling now is a Belushi-like Animal House motivational speech.

"Who's with me?!"
