Right Here For Now
Based on my extensive research on this topic in college I can say definitively that hallucinations are not linked to pot use no matter how hard you try.

Unless its laced:D

However, I have to agree with CB. There are teams that can beat Florida. On any given day they could just get cocky, show up for the game physically but not mentally and get their butts handed to them. Heck, it doesn't even need to be a great team, just a good one for that to happen. That being said, I stick to my original post that they may stumble one, maybe two games (not in a row or against the same opponent) but I can't see them losing a series to anyone unless injuries come into play.

Edit to Add: Actually, the scenario above is more prone to happen against a weaker team when they let their guard down.

I don't think they have any weak teams from here on out with SEC play starting. I agree they could drop a game, any team can have a day when the balls don't fall right and every break goes the other way. I don't think anyone else has a chance for the title though.

Here is a helpful assessment of Florida's remaining schedule. -

Massey Ratings - CSOFT

Massey estimates their chance of winning each game from here out. Florida would be expected to beat LSU 68 percent of the time, based on this projection. No team stands better than a 34 percent chance of beating Florida from here out. (Alabama is the best bet, per Massey). Despite that vote of confidence in each individual game, Massey projects that Florida will lose 4 or 5 games before the SEC tournament. You might believe that Massey's ratings underestimate Florida's chances of winning vs. LSU. Maybe it's better than 68 percent. But let's say Florida has a 90 percent chance of winning any one game from here out. That still comes to 3 or 4 losses through the NCAA tournament.

I'm not saying that Florida is overrated. I haven't watched them much. I'm just saying that it's human nature to overrate the best teams, especially if they are undefeated, and underrate the actual chances of the underdog.

I believe the record for consecutive wins in a season by an NCAA fastpitch softball team is 55 in 2005 held by Northern Kentucky University. This would be a very tough record to break, but I'm rooting for Florida to challenge it.

Trust me when I say that the last thing I want to do is overrate any SEC team, especially Florida. I thoroughly despise the Gators. But since they have already beaten #2 and #3 twice I have to begrudgingly give them their due. If they had any chink in their armor I would grasp on to that, say if they only had one good pitcher, I could say that they can't go deep relying on one stud, they have three. If they had only a few good hitters I would say they are vulnerable on offense, they have four girls that can pound the ball and a bunch of others that hit really well. Heck, two of those pitchers are also great hitters.

CAL has a great record as well and I love that team and still don't think they have a chance to win it all.

I usually ignore records from pre conference play but Florida has already faced stiff enough competition to prove they are the real deal. If they lose 3-5 games before conference play I will be stoked to be wrong about them.

LSU hits very well from the top to the bottom of the lineup. To answer OP's question, yes, LSU can beat Florida. Whether they do or not, this weekend's series is going to be good!

The Gators are a very complete team. They hit from top to bottom, play solid defense, have team speed, have some power, and have an excellent pitching staff. Haeger has a 85/9 K/BB rate and Ocasio has a 80/6 rate. That's insane. Gourley is producing as the #3 pitcher right now and we've seen how dominate she can be. That's right, 9-0 1.06 ERA is your #3 pitcher right now. I'm waiting to see how quick of a trigger the coach has if one of them is off one day.

The team as a sub 1 ERA. Help me put that in prospective. I've only been following CSB for the past few years. Is that "historically" good?
