Milestone homerun today by Augustana's Jenelle Trautman. She hit her 60th career homer and joined an exclusive club. Here's a blurb from the Augie website:

Trautmann finished 2 for 2 with a three-run home run while scoring three runs. Trautmann's home run was her fifth of the season and 60th of her career. She becomes just the sixth player in NCAA Division II history with 60 or more career home runs and is two shy of tying two other players for second all-time in Division II history.

And here's a list of the career leaders in D2 homers. Jenelle only needs 19 more this season to tie. :)

As I think I told you, we are friends with Jenelle and her family. She is a great kid and we want to wish her good luck on her quest. 69 home runs is OUTSTANDING.

Lewis University put on an indoor tournament at the Rosemont Dome in Chicago. The GLIAC was represented by teams like Wayne State, Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, and the University of Findley. The Northern Sun Conference was represented by Winona University and Upper Iowa. Kentucky Wesleyan represented the G-MAC. The Great Lakes Valley Conference was represented by the University of Missouri at St. Louis, the University of Illinois at Springfield, Missouri S&T, Wisconsin Parkside, and the host Lewis University. Saturday's crowd was huge all day and so, many people in the Chicagoland took advantage of this tournament to come out and watch D-II softball at its finest.

Congrats on the VERY high ranking. Does UMSL have a break now? Augie doesn't play again for three weeks.

Congrats on the VERY high ranking. Does UMSL have a break now? Augie doesn't play again for three weeks.

Currently, they are to play in Joplin, Mo in another tournament this weekend. At this point, the games have not be cancelled. However, the forecast for Saturday is 1-3 inches of snow and high of 36. Sunday's forecast is for freezing rain. I don't know when the school putting this tournament on will cancel if they do.

Bob, I will still post a little on the various threads. I won't post, other than brief commentary, on hitting again. I'll leave that up to the experts. BB has been fourtunate to get off to a good start. Still, they year is young and anything can happen. She is so excited for her teammates and how the UMSL program is doing.

Just an update - I see that Jenelle is having a great senior season as she currently leads the nation in homer's per game!! Looks like she's making a serious run at being the all time home run leader for D2.

another update - she hit two more homers today

That is great news. Jenelle go for that record!

As an aside, UMSL hit 13 homeruns today. BB only had one. She hit the top of the fence for a double. LOL! That is an impressive showing for a team in a double header! As a team, UMSL has now hit 58 home runs with 18 games left in the regular season.
