What a day it has been.

Today, in the course of a single practice, we had:

* One girl who couldn't participate in the physical portion of practice because she fell down stairs and tweaked her knee last night
* One girl complain of elbow soreness when throwing (yes, I shut her down for the day)
* One girl limited because she rolled her ankle playing basketball
* One girl suffer a calf cramp during a sprinting game at the end of practice
* One girl who had to shut down her pitching practice because of shoulder soreness
* Two girls who complained of headaches (not concussion related; likely because they don't eat/hydrate before practice)
* One girl who sprained her ankle during that same sprinting game (she is supposed to be my #1 pitcher this year)
* One assistant coach who forgot he's in his 40s and he needs to warm up before joining that sprinting game or he'll pull a groin

And that doesn't account for general soreness because these girls think they don't need to stay in shape during the off season, so lots of "my quads are sore" so far this year.

On the bright side, I feel great!

Everybody, go out and invest in whatever company makes ice packs because their stock is about to go way, way up.

Just behind home plate
We haven't had any practices or anything like that for softball yet for the spring and summer seasons. I know I've invested a small fortune in IcyHot, Hot water bottles and heating pads (especially for my pelvic problems and sore muscles), Ibuprofen, Epsom salts, KT tape, sports tape and reusable ice bags. I'm always getting banged up and bruised. But I know for cheer and softball before, we've had a small triage unit at practices and I foresee it happening this spring again.
