So Cal
I've stated a few times on this forum that alot of this stuff just goes beyond stupid.

Give my daughter a uniform shirt and i can get the pants and her equipment and play ball. The 3-5 different uniforms all sublimated with matching bat bag every year is lunacy. I understand the sponsorship side of things and that in itself is a completely different scenario. however if you're not sponsored who gives a damn.

My son gets a new jersey in the fall and 1 in the spring. He's had the same bat bag since he was 12 years old. He's even worn the same helmet since he was 12 years old (dont ask me how thats possible he just does) We provide our own pants/socks and play great competition (including college showcases) and not once has a coach ever not talked to a kid because of their uniform and have sent many of kids to play college ball. Most teams are charging $2000 a year and $1500 of it is on uniforms and bags. Just play ball

My DD's team has 3 game uniforms, a couple of practice shirts, a hoodie, matching bags, matching visors, and matching helmets. They look good. They look like a team. They take pride in being a part of this team, and my DD wears her team t-shirts with pride to school on a regular basis. Some of what we have is a organization requirement to use a certain amount of Easton gear (helmets and bags). Some of it is also due to one of the coaches working at a company that produces t-shirts and uniforms for sports teams, and he does stuff for cheap. Every time we go to a multiple-day tournament a long way from my home, I'm thankful for all those uniforms and not having to do laundry every day.

I suppose I could see requiring a certain brand if there's some kind of sponsorship deal involved, but I don't even care about the color.

I'm certainly not going to force a girl to wear a helmet others wear. I always, always hated that (I'd wear a bigger helmet with my hat underneath because I was so creeped out by wearing helmets others used). I have a couple girls who won't wear helmets others have worn. She can wear what she wants as long as it's legal. I can't imagine being bothered by this.

I don't think anyone is talking about sharing helmets. "The same helmet" means everyone on the team having their own helmet of the exact same brand, model, and color.

Hey more power to you sounds like a situation to where you have to and that’s certainly a different situation. With that said in the scenario presented its not that big of a deal

The team isnt any less of a team if they showed up in gym clothes.

I think a lot of this is determined by the level of play. If we're talking rec ball where players get shuffled to different teams every spring and fall season, wearing whatever helmet you want is just fine. I loved seeing some of the custom air-brushed helmets that were popular with the players in our rec league. My DD's "rainbow flames and skulls" theme in 10U was pretty cool. However, if we're talking about a tournament team - all-stars, travel ball, etc. - matching gear is a much better look (IMO). Our league was pretty low budget, and the all-star teams never got the matching helmets and bags that most teams had. The girls noticed it. In travel ball, matching gear is standard operating procedure. That said, I'm thankful my DD's org doesn't require a specific brand of bat, glove, and catchers gear as some of them do.

thanks, if she mentions it again, i will approach coach about it. I agree it is good to look uniform, but if color on helmets match (and they only have numbers on helmets, no team logos or anything), I think you would be hard pressed during game to notice it.

I think also pants should be left up to the girls, especially when coach is male. I am well aware I know next to nothing about female clothing (and DDs and DW remind of this when I start to forget), and I am certain most male coaches are the same way. If they match in color, should be good enough. again, exceptions for team sponsorships, different story there.

DD in MS, none of their pants fit her. If she had to wear their pants would more of show then spectators would want.

Small issue that was resolved quicky, there are sane people out there sometimes.

We just needed to get her own black pants.

Q, it's not a matter of fit for my team. I've had more than my share of misfit pants, helmets, shirts, etc. etc, . I've always sent them back and have gotten the proper fit for every girl that had an issue with it. Unlike others on here, my team is not sponsored per se. However, we do get a large discount from certain companies when ordering in bulk....which we do, a lot. I don't care what doesn't fit, we get them apparel that does. It matters to me, the team parents, the teammates themselves and the other coaches that we all match. Level of play or not. Also, our helmets are custom ordered so a paint job would be awfully hard to match. Even if the parents somehow managed it, I wouldn't let them wear it simply because it could possibly be a liability issue since the warranty would be voided as well as possibly out of date from the OCSAE rating/certification. JMHO and standards that I hold my team to.
