No outs. Runners on first and second. Why would you not have 3rd base charge the bunt at 16u and higher?

The best teams mix up the coverage so you don't know exactly where to bunt. However, most would have 3rd charging most of the time.

To me it would depend on the score. If you really need to get that out at 3rd because it's a close game, then I would have 3rd stay home.

Very difficult for a pitcher to cover bunts on the 3rd base side of the circle...not sure why a coach would want to do that. Roll the SS to cover 3rd, 2nd to 2nd and keep 1st at the bag and let the pitcher cover the 1B side of the circle if they are athletic.

Kinda what I was thinking......we are getting worn out on it.... frustrated with a HS coach. Thanks for the replies.

During DD's HS days we had a much stronger F6 than F5, so when our HC thought a batter was a threat to bunt, F5 and F6 switched positions to increase our odds of successfully defending a bunt. Also need to get F2 involved fielding bunts in front of the plate - I have seen far too many F2s become spectators on plays they can make...
