I had mentioned that i was going to try coaching little kids (6-9) so i Could get them off on the right foot with fundamentals, etc.
Well they only had enough for (3) teams and had (3) coaches already, so they made me the “age director” kind of overseeing all (3) teams, but not running anything or making any decisions.
Well the (3) coaches dont want the kids pitching or catching “thats too much at this age”, “it will slow the game down too much” “whats the rush with making them pitch?”, one of them doesn’t even want coach pitch, she wants them all to use the tee. Another one only wants one base at a time while the tee lady wants them to go for extra bases. One coach reads the batting order once and expects them to renember it. They all want everyone in the field with no one on the bench (no catcher).
Last night we played with a girl fielding at the circle, 1B, 3B and 3 MIs and 5 or 6 OF. If you saw the movie “Trading Places”, after the game i was like Dan Ackyroyds character in the Santa suit outside the liquor store. The kids are not the problem.......i guess they never are.
ANY advice anyone cares to throw my way will be greatly appreciated.
