The other way is basically the "Lynch Mob" approach by the parents. I've seen it happen.

When my DD's were heading into their FR & So seasons in HS the current Varsity coach had to give up coaching to demands on her time in another position at the school. The administration brought in this "Great" coach from another part of the state. The varsity team is a perennial powerhouse in the state. They always make a real deep run into the playoffs, even to this day. The team is full of top-tier travel players every season who play across the country against some of the best travel teams in the nation. They don't rebuild. They reload every year. The Soph team can beat many varsity programs in the area.

This "Great" coach shows up and turns out to be a screamer and sarcastic manipulator. She tried to change the IR pitching mechanics of a PAC12 committed pitcher to HE. She tried to change the hitting mechanics of established travel players who've been very successful playing against and beating the travel teams from where she was from on a very regular basis, if those teams tried to venture into the area tournaments. She tried to micro-manage every aspect of of every player on team to the point of stirring the resentment of the players. Instead of earning the team's trust and respect she tried to intimidate them into it. The players were having nothing to do with her style of coaching.

The Soph coach she brought was an even bigger disaster. The kids won despite her. The team had 2 very dominate pitchers from the local travel teams and a 3rd serviceable pitcher combined with top travel players from the area. They lost one game all season to another perennial powerhouse in the conference.

The varsity team lost in the first round of playoffs to a mediocre team. Standing next to the dugout I heard several comments of players saying they would not go through the same non-sense again next year. And you didn't have to have your ear on the dugout wall to hear them. I know there were several calls made to the AD right after that. The "Great" coach decided to leave and return to old stomping grounds. The funny thing. I never saw any of her teams make it far in the state tournament.

I have never seen a coach more despised in all my years of being involved with softball.
