My high school coach used to say if "if I wanted cheerleaders I would have went to that try out". He expected us to be involved and supportive of our teammates but no organized fru fru stuff. God I loved playing for that Coach.

2 years ago, I built my team from Cheerleaders. My daughter was doing cheer in the fall as one of her many sports that she does. I was looking at the squad, saying, "these girls are athletes! How many of you want to play softball this Spring?"
Only my daughter and 1 other girl had played tee-ball, so that first season there were some growing pains. This past season, we went 15-1! And that 1 loss was a fluke, as we went on to mercy-rule that team the next time we played them.

So, moral of the story is....nothing wrong with getting your girls from the cheerleading tryouts!
