All the players try hard and are disappointed when they make a mistake.

This is 18U rec., dreams of playing for a top D1 school are hopefully gone.

We have 1 player on Team that plays HS at a small school, they had a great season that she was a big contributer.

I am not positive what the players expect but mininimual coaching at this point, more roll the ball out and see who wins.

I am not sure that is the right additute or not.

Its for girls who like the social aspect and enjoy softball enough to keep playing but not enough to practice a lot and generally don't want to or can't afford private lessons and/or travel ball fees. These girls generally don't have collegiate softball aspirations.

Reviving this post because I believe it is important IMO...

Our rec league expanded to 18U this year for the first time. We have about 20 girls from our small high school that play. While it is relaxed, there area majority of the girls who are skilled players. Several play travel ball as well. However (and this is only my opinion), travel ball has become so watered down in the past several years. It has also become big business - the costs are skyrocketing. Add to that the time commitment by families for the weekend...well you get my point.

Our 18u league has prospered and allows a low cost alternative to travel ball.
