I don't know why I'm even questioning myself on this, but DD's team is playing in an 18U tournament this weekend.

All the kids are 00 or 01 except one girl who just graduated High School. She turned 19 in Mid April of this year. One of her friends plays on a local super stud team that we will be playing and saying she is too old. I'm 99.99 percent sure she is considered 18 but Utrip as she would be for ASA and NSA?

This seems really wrong to me.

My DD 3 has a January 3 birthday. Born in 2002, so she's 14U since she was 14 when the ball last dropped in Times Square. She's played in two USSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSA tourneys so far this year, and last year she played in a USSA tourney with a 13U division. No problems.

I have to laugh because I do that to the USSSA name all the time. All those Ss. lol

My understanding is that if she was 18 at any time this year, she's eligible to play through this season, but not in the fall. All the girls turning 19 this year can't play 18U next year. But if she turned 19 even on Jan 1, she's still eligible this season. I think that's how it goes.

I didn't know that about U-trip, that the season starts in the fall.

I remember DD 1 played 12U rec league the fall of her 8th grade year, since the Little League rules allowed that. (she was 13 in February, but still 12 through the fall for LL).
Fall of her 9th grade year she was playing 16U TB, because the coach for that team invited her to play up. For some reason, going from 12U rec league to 16U TB in one year was a bit much for her.

I should correct myself, in Illinois all fall tournaments are for age going into.
If you just finished playing 14U for 2017, then for the fall of 2017, you are suppose to play 16U if your team is moving up for 2018.
Pretty sure most states follow the same protocol, as does most of the other ABC's

Locally, U-Trip goes by 15U, 13U, 11U after July 31. The end result is that if you're considered eligible for 18U in USA, you're ok for 19U in USSSA. I never looked into why they do it this way, but based on this thread I'm betting their age cut-off differs from everyone else?
