If parents whine en masse, shouldn't they apologize en masse?

Bottom of 6 with runners at 1st and 2nd, two outs, team down by 4 runs. Runner at 2nd is fast. Batter hits single to RF. RF cleanly does a "do or die" fielding of the ball and comes up throwing. Coach stops runner at 3B.

The throw is off target quite a bit. Runner probably could have scored.

Parents go crazy, whining that the coach should have sent the runner home.

Next batter hits a grand slam.

Why no apology?

Because the parents are not smart enough to realize that you don't end a game on a close play at the plate trailing by 4 to take the bat out of a slugger than can possibly hit a grand slam. And if they are not smart enough to realize that then most likely they aren't smart enough to know they owe the coach an apology.

As a junior high teacher I will tell you that out of the parents I've had complain for various reasons, I've yet to have one apologize even after they were proven wrong or received a logical explanation.

Once one of DD's coaches had a similar situation and sent her. Tagged out, end of game, we lose. You never know what's going to happen. If the parents were jerks about it they should apologize. Good luck with that.

I am not sure what one has to do with another, coach got lucky.

It's the coach having situational awareness and the parents not having it. You don't run a runner into a close play at home down by 4. Most parents only watch the play, they aren't thinking steps ahead to what needs to happen to win ahead.

Ok, so truth be told, these same parents are still complaining today thinking that they had it right. Their reasoning will be that the coach did not know that the next hitter was going to hit a home-run.

The parents that truly know the game will not talk like this. These are the probably the same folks that think their dd should only play one position and bat in the 4 hole. Make best decision you can with the info you have. Truth be known, the next hitter may have hit a home run, only because the bases were loaded. This changes pitch calling and the comfort level of the pitcher. Batter may have been walked with a base open.

Down 4 in the last inning you don't get thrown out out the base paths. That's baseball/softball 101.
Parents are idiots in this case.
