If parents whine en masse, shouldn't they apologize en masse?

Because the parents are not smart enough to realize that you don't end a game on a close play at the plate trailing by 4 to take the bat out of a slugger than can possibly hit a grand slam. And if they are not smart enough to realize that then most likely they aren't smart enough to know they owe the coach an apology.

Lol "coach already doesn't know what to do, he doesn't need another guy in the stands who doesn't know what to do"

Down 4 in the last inning you don't get thrown out out the base paths. That's baseball/softball 101.
Parents are idiots in this case.

Agree 100%....down by 4 and 2 outs! One run doesn't win or even tie the game, but one out loses it. Regardless of who's coming up to bat or if the coach had the awareness to hold her up knowing he had his/her slugger coming up to bat, you play the odds with two outs.

I would much rather be down by 3 runs with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

(DD's coaches have never heard me whine during game, always a lot going on. Does not mean they are right)

That's exactly what I was thinking. Be cautious down by 4. If it was a one run game, then maybe parents could armchair QB.

On the other hand, if it was my DD who got the single and didn't get the RBI to add to her stats, then you have a legit complaint. (Just kidding, but I bet there are some parents thinking that).

I think everyone would if it were a foregone conclusion that the runner will score. But it rarely ever is if the OF is making a play on the ball and firing it home. So, the question really is whether or not risking that one run is worth losing a game. Remember, if you are successful there is a very real possibility that the cleanup hitter gets walked intentionally. And the answer to me is no, not worth the risk.

I want to know if the parents off the other team are after their coach in the same way for allowing an OF make a "do or die" charge and throw to try to prevent a single meaningless run at the risk of allowing multiple runs/base advances that could put the outcome of the game in true jeopardy. That is the only potentially prosecutable act committed on this play IMO.

How would this thread go if the girl hit a liner deep to RF for a triple and you came up short "If Its and buts where candies and nuts..."
