KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ole Miss softball capped a historic SEC Softball Tournament by making some history of its own.
The No. 8-seeded Rebels (40-18) beat No. 6 seed LSU (41-18) by a 5-1 count in the championship game Saturday night at Lee Stadium. It was Ole Miss’ first appearance in the title game in the 21-year history of the event.
Pitcher Kaitlin Lee, a 5-foot-4 transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, was the tourney MVP.
Really nice to see Ole Miss and a pitcher like Kaitlin shake things up and take it to the established SEC teams.
