Not usually ON Mother's Day. What we're doing this year is playing in a Mother's Day tournament on Saturday. We practice on Sundays but we're off if we play Saturday, so we do end up being off for actual Mother's Day. If we weren't playing DD would want to practice & I'd be fine with it, but on our team I imagine there are maybe 3 girls who'd show up.

We play tourneys on BOTH weekends. Plus DS also has a double header on Mom's day this year as well.

Nothing says "I love you mom" like a burger and fries from the concession stand.

Mothers Day, no (still in HS season and they don't practice or play games on any Sundays). Before she got to high school, we absolutely had tournaments Mothers Day weekend. If no tournament, we'd practice on the Saturday but not the Sunday.

Fathers Day, high school season over so we are definitely in a tournament somewhere (watching your kid doing something they love is a great fathers day for me). Truth be told, I'm actually more annoyed about missing watching the US Open.

To clarify things a bit - we're NOT a tournament team (I've said this on a ton of other posts, we play individual games in late June into July on M/W/F nights), so right now we're just practicing to prepare - I've got a VERY young team (16U with 5 players either 12 or 13 y/o). It seems like a lot of practices (and another thread covered this), but my girls are so goofy and lacking focus that I do it so eventually something will click at some point. Plus once my AC is free from college to work, it'll make things a lot easier.

Attendance so far (with my new policy I've put in place) has been very good. 4 practices, no less than 8 of my 11 girls have showed up. I just had this one parent (who always seems to have a negative attitude about most things) say "She's always committed to your team" and "She doesn't have time to make any practices up, especially when it's Mother's Day", which to me is a cop-out since half my practices are on Sunday afternoons. Additionally, "making it up" = 30 extra minutes of 1-on-1 time before/after ANY practice during the season. DRACONIAN punishment, I know. 30 minutes (which flies by) for extra, specialized time. Such punish. Very harsh. Wow.

Yes. but that is a yes if we are not playing tournaments. We have played tournaments for past 3 years and will this year again.

We play games on those days. For Mother's Day we go out and buy flowers and have the girls give a couple carnations to their mom before the games. This past year, the mom's got the team special jerseys for Father's Day with each dad's name on the back. It was an awesome surprise.

If I were to have a practice on Mother's Day, I would make it optional.
