Update: The guy is a 1st year ump and upset several coaches this past weekend. He allegedly stopped a game to show a baserunner what a lead should look like. He won't be at our park again. I think the general consensus, as usual, was right. I think this guy was a coach in the past or something. He probably has some VERY specific ideas about how the game should be played and is just new.

We have an umpire like this.

DD was in the middle of an Issue. All the people in charge monitored them next game.

I asked DD what she thought of ump. She said they were OK. High praise from her.

I went from being in linch mob too trying to stop it, no luck.

They only do 10U games now. :)

The closest I've seen to this was an umpire who advised me that my catcher was occasionally rising up too quickly (with runners on) and obscuring his view of the pitch. That was some welcome feedback. At younger age Rec games, I've seen umpires help coaches understand rules and provide correction on improper pitching delivery. Otherwise, umps shouldn't (and around here don't) try to coach. That would annoy the crap out of me and anyone I know.
