One competition we used to do was a relay race to end practice. Divide the team in half trying to make them as equal as possible speed wise. Start one group at home plate and the other at 2B. Each player runs all 4 bases with a softball as the baton which is exchanged at home or 2B depending on where they started.

ground ball drill, players line up and each player takes as many ground balls as they can without making an error (ball gets behind fielder). Team sets a number as a goal, say 200 as a team. If the team makes the goal then they get a treat of some sort and if they miss the goal they get to run suicides or some other physical activity for every ball they miss their goal. This also helps build team chemistry.

1. Bucket on Home, two more buckets on either side of batters boxes. Line up on 2nd base, throw once, and to back of line. Throw between outer buckets = 1 point. Hit bucket on home = 3 points. When player gets 3 points, they are done and head to dugout for a drink. (8u and 10u) Could do this from outfield for older girls.
2. Fielding. Divide into two teams. One lines up on first base line between two cones, other lines up on line between 2nd and 3rd between two cones. Alternating turns, girls throw grounders to opposite team, if ball is not fielded and get's past line, girl who misplayed ball is out. Girls can back each other up, but must field ball before it crosses line. As girls are eliminated, cones are moved closer, so there is same area to defend per girl. (Any age)

This one gets a love or hate reaction on my team, depending on whether they are fast or slow runners...

All players line up on the base line between home and 3B. 60' sprint to the base line between 1B and 2B. Winner gets to go pack their stuff. Repeat until you get to the final 2 players.

Once a year, I take all of my dead softballs and I distribute them out along the fence. The girls start at home and they race out there. They can keep however many that they get.

We play over the line with a coach pitching and each inning we switch which field we are hitting to to work on opposite field hitting.

We played several games at the end of practice from catch me if you can, I ran and the kids chased me and the first one that touched me won a prize, I gave out Winnie the Poo gifts, balloons, stuffed animals and such purchased them at the Dollar Store.

I had a big Poo Bear purchased at a yard sale he became our mascot, I would set him a bucket or chair the kids would throw at it to knock it off the chair, last one to miss was the winner.

The game that they liked the best was last girls standing, everyone got on a line with a bat and helmet, I pitched to the batter one pitch and they had to hit it, if they missed get their glove and hit the field, if you hit it get back in line until one girls is left. Had a lot of good competition between the kids.

When I was a player we called this the "I hate slow people" drill
