Wanted to see what the consensus is on wrist snaps to warm up throwing overhand. I have seen some articles and such online before against it, but of course cant seem to find them again. I do not use this in warm ups. After dynamic warm ups and stretching, I normally have the girls throw lightly using a full motion, then move back and increase speed and distance or throw.

Thanks, I have had the joy of coaching with some college coaches at the Rec and travel levels and have learned a lot from them. Problem is, current HC of HS team I am assisting uses some questionable to me methods and I need a lot of proof to even get him to consider changing things. Although even with proof, so far he hasn't really been on board. Squishing the bug is an example. Tried to get them to stop teaching that, wasn't having it. At all.

If he can't even see the light on squishing the bug, good luck on anything else.

Yeah. I have come to realize I am fighting an uphill battle now after some things that have happened yesterday. Both with DD1 and DD2. Its gonna be along season I think.

DD does not like fighting coach, she is old enough that she is on her own and we are out of it.

She does slow roll somethings though, I am sure it is noticed.

If you want a place to start in a throwing progression start with darts not flicks, IMO, because you'll actually use a dart throw in some situations and many girls have no idea how to do it. If you have very young girls there's nothing wrong with showing them how the ball should come off the fingers (maybe while you're also showing them grip options for small hands) but no need to drill it.

Admittedly I have not watched many high level softball practices/warmups but I have watched a ton of these for baseball and there probably is a reason why I have never
seen anybody do what you described...
