First practice is tomorrow for our 2nd year in 8U.
Had a blast last year, and can't wait to get the girls back out there.

Spent most of the day writing and re-writing my practice plan, and I think I'm ready to go!

Good Luck!

I happened to be watching an 8U game, dad started yelling at me. She has never been in game before, you do not understand, she has never been in a game before. She hit a double.

It is so much fun.

DD will help.

They're so cute in 8U. One of the siblings on our team is about to turn 5 and just started 6U. I forgot how incredibly cute they are at that age. She really think she's on our 10U team. She practices with the big girls. At practice the other night she got a turn hitting and the girls all kept making ridiculous throwing errors so she could get a homerun. At one point she forgot to run the bases and went to go chase the ball. So cute! And watching how sweet the older girls are with her is fun too.

This age is awesome! My favorite thing is watching these girls realize how tough and strong they are.

I also coach my son's soccer team. While I have a blast doing that as well, there's something just a little extra rewarding about coaching the girls.

And don't be afraid of tearing it up and throwing it away once you get to the field. You never know how fast they'll pick up things until you're there.

Keep it simple. Work on two things at practice, maybe three. Most of the time with the attention span at that age it's really hard to keep them fully engaged for too long.

Have fun!!! But most importantly, make sure they are having fun. Tons and tons of encouragement.

Absolutely! I coached these girls last year as well, so I know all their capabilities. Just have a couple girls that are new, but pretty athletic, so will pick up quickly.

The way I try to work my practices, is I will have as many stations as I have "assistants" on that day. On Saturday, I had 5 assistants, so I set up 5 stations. Keeps the girls busy (no standing around getting bored), and gets them as close to 1 on 1 instruction as possible. Plus, this way, I can walk around and make sure all stations are being coached as I'd like them to be, and can encourage the girls and be as interactive as possible.
