Leaque is trying to figure out how to offer free clinics to players, Leaque is going to pay instructors.

DD likes a clinic type setting to one on one anyways so I am might be a poor person to ask.

In a clinic type environment what is a good ratio coach/ player. Keep in mind it is free for player.

Pitching
Hitting
Fielding

All outdoors by the way.

(Supprised how many players do not show up for free stuff so we need to start this right, the purpose is not to babysit thier kid for a couple hours)

Depends on how many the coaches are comfortable with. The league I used to be a Commish for did pitching clinics free. We had about 4 coaches for about 30 girls. Each pitcher had to have their own catcher obviously. It was really myself and another coach that actually knew what to teach for pitching, others just followed our lead. I would have been fine with just 2 coaches though.

Hitting I would be comfortable with 2 coaches for about 10-15 kids.

So I guess you could get away with 2 knowledgeable coaches for about 10-15 kids. so 30 I would say 4, etc

what is age group of the players for the clinics. I ask because another good resource might be older girls, ie like HS players for 12u and below. Still need adult coaches as well to provide direction, but this would really allow for more personal instruction. Could be paid or volunteer (latter might help them towards any community service requirements for school, other orgs, college applications, etc.).

i would say 1 experienced knowledgeable adult coach per 5-6 kids without other hlep, with some other help, could probably go to 8-10.

Age is 12 and lower.

Good or bad to start we are locking out people who know more then some of the instructors and will do it for free, one of the selling points is we are paying for instructions.

For the past several years, our league does a free Spring and Fall skills clinic for the girls. (a differentiator I don't think we emphasize enough when comparing ourselves to Little League).

For the Spring, we'll usually pay coaches (former college softball players), and have 2 sessions - K-3G, and 4G+. Usually works out to 10 kids per station.

Fall is the best one, IMO. We have a local D1 team come and work with the girls. So there's usually about 2-3 college kids at each station. We still do 2 sessions (younger/older), and the only payment I am aware of is we pay for their lunch (subs) and bring in pizza and a few veggie/fruit trays for everyone else.

Cost-wise, it's probably the same, by the time you account for the 15 sandwiches and x # of pizzas.

We hold both clinics at a local HS field, which is also our leagues "primary" field for the older divisions, so we have access to the pitching machines and use of the cages. Anytime you can do this outside, I think it's easier to have larger groups for each station - I'd say up to 10 per coach, except for the group using the pitching machine - rotation through there isn't as quick, so you'd probably want to have a "side activity" and keep group size to around 5, with maybe 5-10 pitches per kid.
