I've coached in both USSSA and NSA but not in USFA. How does the competition level compare? We are a new 16U team playing up an age due to 2 girls. The rest would be 14U. I'm curious what the competition level is vs the other sanctions so we can play more games without the consistent losses. We will be trying some WAHOO as well. Thanks for everybody's input.

Very geography dependent. Ask teams and coaches who are fairly local to you, or call the org's TD and ask for a list of teams who entered recent tournaments.

Varies by age as well. Many teams at 16u run around playing "showcase" events and less of the abc's.

I agree this is very geography dependent.

I'm interested to hear about how things have changed over the years with regards to this in other areas.

In 2013, when my DD was first year 10u, NSA was where all of the competition played. USFA was starting to grow.
In 2014, USFA starting getting most of the A teams, NSA not so much.
In 2015, USFA was where all of the A teams played & NSA was where all of the B teams played.
In 2016, this was an interesting year. The USFA state director moved to USSSA, the NSA director moved to USFA and NSA decided to have multiple directors. All of the A teams and most of the B teams went to USSSA with that director. The USFA director was able to keep some B teams. NSA was pretty much dead.
In 2017, it looks like everyone is playing USSSA again and not much USFA. NSA is still dead.

It's funny how it works. There's pretty much zero PGF here. I think some teams got together to bring a qualifier here this spring but they're few and far between. USFA is kind of mid-level. ASA used to be good but now they can barely get enough teams to play a tournament.

What do the 10u & 12u teams play? B level teams?

"B" and "C" teams are ASA rec league. There are a few leagues under the LL umbrella, but ASA is dominant in So Cal. "A" teams are TB. There aren't independent "B" TB teams. "B" is always connected to a rec league.

My DD's 12U TB team plays ASA, PGF, TCS, and U-trip events. AFA is making a comeback in So Cal, and we played one of their tournaments in the fall.
