Here in East TN it can really come down to TD and how the set up and run tournys. Same org here has two great TD but run different levels under same org. One attracts better team whill other caters more to rec/b,c. Unless your chasing national berth we go to where our skill level fits in. The rec TD does great job of keeping trophy chasers out.

The funny thing about PGF (at least from my vantage point) is that they've become pretty much everything their customers hated about ASA, with the exception of holding tournaments in Huntington Beach every year. Arrogant, over-priced, unyielding, know-it-all, etc. As USA softball learned, Mark Cuban was right, pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. PGF is enjoying their day in the sun now, wouldn't be surprised to see them drop a notch if they keep this up.

While PGF Nationals will still attract the big dogs from CA, the trend on the East Coast is starting to swing. Some teams still want to go to PGF, but USA Elite, TC and JO Cup are pulling good teams too.

In North Carolina, NSA attracts better teams on average, while USSSA and especially TopGun get much larger numbers but attract lesser teams on average.

Well in Eastern NC, NSA is nowhere to be found. Have to travel way west. U-Trip and Top Gun are big, and WFC was trying to make their way up here from SC, but looks like they may have failed.

We try to play in TCS every now and then, but it is always a 3-4 hour hike to find a tourney (and the 4 day hotel bill in Myrtle Beach).

Yeah, you're right about NSA, although they do have a couple of events in Burlington and Greensboro.

WFC is taking another shot this year at N.C. and have several tournaments scheduled in the East. We'll see how they do.

Most teams can get all the competition they need playing USSSA in eastern NC and don't need to travel. But if you want to step it up, I think NSA is the way to do it. If you can win an NSA tournament in N.C., you're probably a top-25 team in the state.

Geography, definitely. Here in Central Florida, PGF is starting to make inroads. NSA and USFA are a crap shoot for quality teams depending on the weekend...U-trip tends to draw the middle of the road teams. U-Trip ES is pulling in the better teams along with ASA; those are where you will find the better competition. Showcase ball tends to be a big draw here; D9 and TCS. A lot of renovations to fields has started to pull in bigger tourneys.

Here at 10U/12U B level teams play either USSSA B/Open or CAM Sports mostly. C level play GSA a lot. A play mostly USSSA A/Open. Though all of that A/B/C stuff is self-defined and varies wildly. Our spring "A" team beat maybe one or two other A teams all year and often lost to B teams too. They can say they're whatever they want to.

The Georgia teams I am familiar with, East Cobb Bullets and Atlanta Vipers to name a couple play PGF and ASA with some Triple Crown Thrown in.
