14u TB team. All but one girl is playing JV or Varsity HS ball.

We're having some conflicts with HS coaches restricting girls from playing any TB outside of HS...period.

This isn't right.

What have been your experiences and how to you deal with the HS coach, the girl's parents, and/ or the poor girl stuck in the middle?

In most of the country, it is against the state's HS athletic association rules for kids to play on both a TB team and a HS team during the HS season.

So, first: Is it allowed within your state for the players to play on a TB team and HS team during the HS season?

I am pretty sure in most states you are not allowed to practice with TB if you are on the school team.

With the amount of time the players need to commit to the school team, I think it is a good idea anyways.

What state are you in?

My state does not have a rule such as this. Also is the school coach going to TB practices to see who shows up? TB takes priority in my house so if this became a state rule and it was enforced which I would think is pretty impossible to do, my DD wouldn't play school ball.

Let's say DD goes to HS A and I see a player from HS B playing or practicing with a TB team.

I can snitch on them so the coach needs to enforce the rule if exists, they really do not have a choice.

If you cannot handle playing both TB and HS ball at the same time, you are probably doomed if considering playing in college. There is more than enough time for both. Just comes down to your priorities. Most states have these rules under the guise of safety, preventing over use injuries, blah, blah, blah. It is really about keeping the sport relevant so the state association can make money.

What ''isn't right'' about it?

I think it's within the right of a high school coach to make this rule about his/her program. Not saying that a HS coach should or shouldn't have such a rule, but it's certainly not ''wrong'' in any moral sense to make that request of players if the coach believes that's what is best for his/her team.

They do that even in middle school here. DD played on the middle school team last fall, and was not allowed to play or practice with her TB team until MS ball was over. I'm not sure if it's a state thing or just a school requirement. Honestly to do both would have been a lot for her since they played or practiced 5 days a week, and she had over an hour of homework pretty much every night.

LOL, I take it the team is 1st year 14's... almost every parent says the same thing when the kids start playing HS... Wait until 16 or 18, typically the TB team will go dark until the HS season is over. So if your DD quits the HS team just to play TB, and the TB team doesn't play or practice during the HS season, where will you be?

I think you can get some sort of waiver in our state, not sure from who.

MS here it was a rule but one one cared, we had a few players do both at the same time.
