I like the components of OPS -- on base% and slugging %-- to help sort out the line up. However, for Mom and Dad, batting average is the currency that you have. In my mind, fielding percentage is the big hole I have in my stats -- I keep track of unearned runs, but I haven't tracked individual errors, etc. I will say that that gets easier as your kids age up.
