I need some ideas for indoor practices. So far we split them into t-drills, soft toss, front toss, knee drills, wrist isolation, pop flys, ground balls. then play a game after words. I have plenty of help but only 1 batting coach and these girls are 7,8, and 9 so were teaching swing mechanics with 1 hitting instructor, at times there are some girls waiting so im lookn to get the most out of the time were there. thanks Eric!

When our girls are waiting for a station they do sit ups, push ups, squats, jumping jacks and jump rope. This works for outside practices too.

Sometimes waiting is just the way it is. I know it is a big no no for most but there is a price to making sure your kids get the good hitting reps in. Some ideas include -

1) Schedule team to come in shifts 3 players at a time 30 minutes a part.

2) Break girls into twos. Have 3 stations. The last station is working with hitting coach. Schedule them to arrive 15 minutes a part. The First group starts 30 minutes before the second and works the first two stations. Then you just move through stations every 15 minutes.

2)Have them work on their cheers for summer ball (I'm serious)

I think when you have so many stations (you list 7). The girls are busy but quality can suffer

We've got 5-6 stations setup in ours. A girl hitting off a T on her own warming up, one working on a T w/ hitting coach, one in the batting cage, a pitcher and catcher in the pitching tunnel, and the rest doing throwing drills, or speed drills. They're rotated through. We keep a pitcher and catcher paired, so that when one pair is done in the tunnel, the next pair goes in. They get paired with a different one each practice. Occasionally we'll throw in a bunting station, or bring in a pitcher or catcher from the older team, to work those positions. Noone is ever just standing around, unless the coach gave them a break.

Also be sure to try and work in purposefull team based drills. Something that helps them learn how to communicate with each other while also having fun with each other and letting them learn to trust each other. There are lots of resources out there for those type of team based activities.

We have two 12-U coaches running indoor practices,so we have 5 or 6 girls for the first 45min then 5 or 6 the other 45min.
Small area to work in.
coach1 at T,10 balls rotate
coach2 at soft toss or quick swing tube,10 balls then rotate. Each girl goes through 3 times. 20min and done

coach1 throws live pitching, 2 bunts 10 swings rotate.
coach2 works on fielding, pop ups and throwing while they wait there turn. 25min and done
We also worked on sliding last week. Sweats and fleece blanket with coach and a parent spotting players.
We tried having them come all at once, but with the small space and only 2 coaches it was to hard to keep them focused.

indoor practice plan

I have a small indoor hitting facility to use for my 10-U team . We begin with all the girls doing warm up drills, throwing then running. Then we set up 4 groups. We have 3 pitchers throwing to 3 catchers with a coach monitoring (focusing on fundamentals of both positions); we have one group working on 5 point hitting tee, one group hitting soft toss, one group taking grounders with cones defining their boundaries. We rotate, weaving our pitchers/catchers into our other groups as they hit their maximum pitch counts. We only have one batting cage so toward the end we'll have either a hitting or bunting competition. We usually end with a fun competition, like tug of war with a big rope we keep around for fitness. Takes us about an hour and a half. Don't forget the boombox!
