Here are a couple of basic bunt coverages I use...

This is from a playbook I made up.

I was looking thru these and saw some stuff I want to ask you about - "short" depth? what is short depth for your team?
Secondly - "base" depth - can you explain this as well

I am trying to put together some stuff like this for my team and want to know how you do this, also do you have any other depth's? perhaps - for winning run at 3b, or DP depth for middle infielders, no doubles, etc?

I like to keep it simple...

Runner on 1st / no runners:
F1-F2-F3-F5 all charge for the bunt. F4 covers 1st, F6 covers 2nd. If F5 fields the bunt, F1 moves to cover 3rd. If anyone else fields the bunt F5 gets back to 3rd.

Runner on 2nd:
Same exact movement....

Runner on 1st with fake bunt and a steal:
Same movement... F6 will always cover 2nd... keeps it simple for the infielders.

Now depending upon the batter, we may choose 1 back or 3 back in which F1 needs to cover that side of the field that is staying back.

So with a runner on 1b and 2b ? will you have a force out opportunity -

That is too general. It's situation dependent. You must consider the percentages; with a successful bunt the runner from 2nd can probably make it to 3rd in less than 3 seconds. What is the percentage of getting that runner on a force? Also consider if the runner is going on contact you probably don't have a chance at the force.

Now if that runner is the winning / tying run late in the game, I would probably call for 3 back and attempt to get the force. If we are getting blown out, it's early in the game, or we are winning, I'll go with the higher percentage of getting the out at 1B.
