Good luck with your daughter and I think you are making the right decision not letting her play.I hope she heals quickly and well, IM!
I hope my DD does too. She took a foul tip to the helmet while catching last night. The hit didn't look that bad, but when she just stayed in her crouch rather than jumping up to go after the ball, I knew right away that it had really rung her bell. When she got back to the dugout, one of her coaches checked on her and yanked her from the game. She had the throbbing headache and nausea, thankfully no real dizziness, loss of consciousness, slurred speech, etc. Today, she seems very mentally sharp, but still has a headache. It doesn't seem as bad as the one she had last year, where she was not herself for several days, but I'm pretty sure it IS a second one.
I'm pretty well decided that even if she pleads with me, she's not playing in the Metros this weekend. There will be other tournaments. There's only one brain.
DD is feeling fantastic and she's doing her 3rd practice of the week with the team as I write this. The coach has been doing much easier grounders to all of the girls getting them to attack the ball and it looks like her confidence is coming back. She's not even complaining about the mask anymore Just in the last week we've seen a senior 3rd basemen get nailed in the shoulder at a Junior Day Camp (she was fine but it brought her tears), and our 1st basemen got hit in the jaw on a one bouncer that made the inside of her mouth bleed but she was fine.
Next week is a big week for her so I hope she does well in front of the coaches that are coming to see her. Finally fields that have 200 foot fences! She's extremely excited because we've only played on one field in 4 tournaments that have 200 foot fences...but that's another topic.
