Since we've been in TB, we haven't had a "team mom." Instead, we've had a Team Admin...he or she does all of the off-the-field, behind-the-scenes stuff: manning the table at tryouts, keeping the books, finding and coordinating fundraisers, manage all of the team communication, and...well, the list is kind of endless. The point of the Team Admin is for the Coaches to concentrate on all of the on-the-field activities of the team and not have to worry about everything else. I spent the last one and a half seasons as our team's admin and there truly is a lot involved. In our case, I also found and signed us up for all of our friendlies and tourneys. The head coach didn't want to deal with it and I only consulted with him when I registered for tourneys.

Some head coaches are much more hands-on and don't want their Team Admin to take on all of this stuff, so in the end, it's all up to him or her!

Everything but coaching, and picking out the tournaments...

Our team mom, is the most important person on our team...

Picks out uniforms.
Orders uniforms.
Orders spirit wear.
Schedules practice facility
Sends out all team communication.
Determines which uniforms to wear on which days
Schedules all travel activities, hotel, social night, group meals.
Team parties/bbqs
Gift bags
Our liaison with the tournament directors... in case we have a schedule conflict
Team treasurer
Coordinates fund raisers

This is perfect.^^^

Now the trickis you have to have a team mom you ABSOLUTELY TRUST. I chose one once that it went to her head and she behind the scenes used it as a power trip. Ended badly.

Mom can always be a man. We normally call him the Grill Guy. But, he knows that he is really team mom.

Team Mom/Grill Guy 'title' goes away beyond 10U in travel and 12U in rec - they are promoted to 'team manager'

(but they are still the team mom/grill guy)

Moms were not allowed, it was the dad show. Oh wait, a mom did the book, but that wasn't ever used by the coach for stats or anything, just for scorekeeping.

Four to five in the dugout, depending on who showed: all to point out base runner and swinging errors on offense, then fielding, backup, and throwing errors on defense.

Girls were expected to stay in the batting order and et the bat.

Your team mom is the backbone for your team. Treat her right! Get her a giftcard to spa or mani/pedi day. In the past five years of me managing teams I have always treated my team moms right. Now I have a line of moms wanting to be selected for the year.

Include your team mom in everything!
