The defense will be a challenge too. Last year all the players fit in their favorite positions like a glove. This year, nothing seems to fit right. The coaches will have to move around some of the upperclassmen to different positions, so the youngsters can fit and be effective.*

Now you are making no sense! The Sophomore is on the mound and the coach is rearranging for underclassmen instead of benching them for the more experienced, entitled players. You were arguing one position but seems as if the HS is doing the opposite and you are ok with it.

SCDad, I keep reading your post and it is the same incoherent story. These girls you know are the best players in the nation, maybe the world. Do you really think that these girls are the only ones that work hard at this sport? I guess all the other girls should just stop playing because no one could ever compete against your girls. I get it, you know all the teams in the nation and also that not one freshmen in HS could ever compete against any older girl at your HS. Your great coaches you talk about, really suck as coaches if that's really how they run their joke of a program.

I think you all have been right. My player is not very good, and my perspective is different because she sees the pine more than most.

I am incoherent, as the stories weave in and out between young and old.

We had a lucky year, so what. Some do, it was a blast. Next year we will probably get our butts whipped.

Our coaches are good. It is parents like me who are crazy.

Thanks all.

Yes ... Warrior Classic, the High School Tourney in TN. Yeah, we were there the last couple of years. What is it with Riverdale. Last couple of years, we were 5-0 each time to finish 2nd in the 50 team field.

SC teams are only allowed to play 5 games. Yet Riverdale TN (host team) plays 7 games. When the final games are tabulated it is always Riverdale #1 (7-0), ... us #2 (5-0).

I even looked at the individual games last year. It looked to me as though Riverdale LOST a game. But it did not show up in the final tally. Why does Host Riverdale not schedule a game with us ... ? Did they lose a game this year, but not show it so they could report them, in TN papers, as winners again???

I hope we go to Murfreesboro TN next year. I have no control. If we do ... do me a favor ... make Riverdale TN schedule a game with us. Great Tourney !!!

The Boro tourney is my favorite tourney that we entered each year. It really gives good HS teams the chance to compete with good HS teams from other states.

Look, everyone wants a piece of Riverdale. They've been a successful team for a long time. 8 years they've been ranked in the top 25 nationally. Christy ( HC ), coached the NPF tour back in 2010 or 11.

The winner is determined by a point system, so only entering 5 games starts you at a disadvantage. So if you all went 5-0 AND Riverdale went 6-1 they would still win by points. For some reason I can't pull up last years "results", the domain page has expired.

Look, tell your coach to call Christy when he/she registers for the tournament. Tell her you'd like to play RD, she won't run and hide.........and enjoys a tough game.

DD went to watch her future HS play yesterday. She said the JV team sucked. --DH and I are trying to get her to lay off the s-word, but it (and "like") must be pretty prevalent in middle school. She ranted that the catcher couldn't block at all. Girls were making errors all over the place. Short and second collided and then laughed instead of trying to make a play. Wild throws were being made to first and the first baseman had trouble with good throws. Yada yada... She was sure that her old 12U teams could have beaten them easily.

DD had a PT session yesterday afternoon and on the way home, we see that the JV game is still going, so we went over to watch. My goodness, it was bad. Her school's team could not make outs. Finally, the other team's coach had two girls step off base. The other team was less horrible, but definitely not great. Their pitcher was throwing big slooowww rainbows, very few of which found the strike zone. I have to concur with DD and say that her 12U teams should have easily beaten either of those JV teams. She figures her 10U team too. I'm not sure, given the size difference, but maybe.

I felt bad for the JV coach. He was yelling at girls to THROW the ball to X and yelling at the girl with DTS to RUN--all to no avail.

If she's their catcher next year, I predict that she's going to rip her teammates some new ones. Eeeek.

Yes, DD’s 12U Rec. Team could have beat her JV MS Team. DD was on JV and I went to all the games so I know but so what.

My opinion is get your DD recruiting some of her classmates and make the Team better.

Everyone talks about the HS coaches being bad but when you get to the lower level of school ball JV or JH, then you will know what bad is! My dd's Jr High ball team is horrible, but they are pretty good compared to the awefullness of the other teams. They made it through state pool play and start state next weekend. I KNOW I have seen some 1st year 12u teams that would devastate them. Actually saw the former starting 3rd baseman catch a grounder and just hold it not knowing what to do. Coach yelled, "throw it", she threw it to the dugout where he was sitting. Like I said "former".

Every Jr High team I have seen could be and/or would be a lot better if their coach cared enough to take the time and developed them.

Sure, James, I'd expect a 12U TB team to beat a MS team, either JV or Varsity. They're all about the same age. But these were HS JV girls--14-17 yrs old, and DD's 10U and 12U teams were only B level at that. I guess I was really surprised that high school girls wouldn't be able to compete with B level 10-11 yr olds.

I wish she could recruit, but as far as I know, every rec girl she's talked to is happy with where she is and what she's doing and sees no need to change. Maybe not having MS ball is part of that. By the time the rec girls get to high school, play against TB players for the first time and see what they're up against, it's too late.

DD's TB coach graduated from her HS and says it's the common attitude around here that rec is plenty good enough. Unfortunately DD's HS has to play teams from areas of the city that are much more into softball. Even if winning seasons aren't in the cards, I still think DD should play for her school and do her best. :)
