I struggle wit this topic as well with being a coach. I have 14 yr old girls that sometimes want to be there playing and other days could care less. My own DD can be this way. She understands the mental side of sports, but she still doesn't really "get" it. She would prefer to watch TV, text or play a video game than better herself as an athlete. This can be very frustrating as a coach/dad.
