Dd made it on a 12u team for fall season. This is more or less a all star team anybody
can try out for. We have rec kids and some travel girls. Coach has a 11yr and a 13yr on team. The cut off is Jan 1 so if your 12 before the new year being 13years old isn't a problem we were told. All birth certificates were turned in.
We creamed two travel teams today. Coach got a call that we're not allowed to play 12u anymore since we have a few 13 yr olds. All of our pitchers are 11 years old. We have practice Monday and will discuss options. This sucks.
The teams we played had a hard time pitching. Our 13 year old hit one over the fence and bounced one off of the fence.
Somewhere something is not right with the ages. If you are a 12U team you should not have any players on your team who are 13 right now in the fall. If you do them they are not eligible to play in the spring. If you have players who turn 13 after the Jan 1 cutoff they are legal. It sounds like your coach does not understand the age cutoff rule.
My DD had an early Feb birthday. She was always one of the older players on the team if she was not playing up. She was still eligible to play 18U after her freshman year of college softball.
