First off congratulations - happy Father's Day to all the dads! One of the most important days of the year right ?

I'm going to throw a few things out there and see what sticks... hopefully 'steer' DD in the best direction with the advice.

Let's start with some facts... DD is going to be a Sophomore in high school for the '18-'19 school year. Caught every game that she didn't pitch her Freshman year at a school of approx. 400. For the upcoming school year DD will be attending a school of approx. 4000 and will have to compete to be on Varsity and find playing time. Currently on a travel team that can compete with anyone in the state of Indiana at 16U.

Here's where I need the advice... it looking as though she is going to go from a catcher that played every other game on the travel team to a catcher that only catches for a specific pitcher (not the #1) which will decrease the opportunities she has.

DD will finish out June and July with the current team. That being said do you start looking for the next team ?

Thanks for the advice - love the information you can gather from the site.

We are in a similar spot you are on when to start looking for the next team. We knew over a month ago that DD would not be back on the team she is playing with due to lack of coaching/managing. DD is a left handed catcher and an outfielder who would like to work on first base in practice (only lefty on the team) but is told that she isn't needed there.

When it comes to the other team I have been approached by other coach's at games asking what DD's future holds. I have told them all that we will talk after the season and let her decide what she wants. I have also reached out to a few teams to find out where they stand on players and when tryouts would be due to DD asking about them. I didn't want to start so early in the process because I didn't want the coach getting mad and cutting DD's playing time anymore then it already is. I come to the fact that no matter what coach is an idiot who thinks it is ok for 10 runs on 3 hits in the 1st inning of an elimination game because "the girls need to work it out." So if DD has to sit more because she wants to shop for another team and the coach is pissed who cares!
